Sullivan’s men moved swiftly, searching through crates of cash, weapons, and opium, securing everything they could. It had been a clean hit, fast and brutal, just the way Sullivan had planned.
The bodies of the Russian guards lay scattered around the warehouse, some still bleeding out into the concrete. The stench of gunpowder hung in the air. This was a victory—one of Sullivan’s biggest—but there was no celebration. Not yet.
“Clear!” Red’s voice echoed from the far side of the warehouse as he pushed open the last crate, revealing a stash of cash and documents—Volkov’s money, the backbone of his empire. “This is it, John.”

Sullivan nodded, wiping the rain from his face, his coat soaked from the downpour that had begun to fill the air with cold. He stared down at the haul, but his mind was already working ahead—this wasn’t just about the money. Volkov would know who had done this, and Sullivan knew that the Russian wouldn’t let this go unanswered.
Nearby, two of Volkov’s men knelt on the wet floor, hands bound behind their backs, their faces battered and bruised from the fight. They had been the lucky ones—the only survivors of the hit. Sullivan approached them slowly, the sound of his boots echoing off the walls.
“You two are gonna take a little trip,” Sullivan said, his voice calm but edged with menace. “You’re gonna tell the Marshals everything you know about Volkov.”
