I've been generating images based on old games lately. I remember people talking about how 2d maps would look in 3d, the donut shape.
The purpose of the ship was to act as an icon for travel.
Shape is one thing, but how the sun and moon travel is another interesting thought process. Would be a strange sight, the ground beneath your feet expanding and contracting each day, as the world rolls in on itself, as it revolves around the sun.
