Dick Bruna

Dick Bruna (1927 – 2017) was a prominent Dutch artist, illustrator, and author. He is best known for his children's books and the creation of the iconic character Miffy (NL: Nijntje), a simple yet universally adored white bunny. Bruna's style is characterised by bold lines, simple shapes and vibrant primary colours, which have become hallmarks of his illustrations. His minimalist illustrations gave life to Miffy's charming world, captivating both children and adults with relatable themes and emotions. He primarily used collage and simple graphic techniques, which contributed to the development of a distinctive style within children's literature, emphasising minimalism and clarity.
