Fire is not typically counted as a "force of nature" -- unless in reference to forest fires and volcanoes.
What I haven't settled on yet is the nature of her pyrokinesis. Two things that could explain such powers in a "superhero comic book" scenario are off the table. Why? Because I do not want to retread the major, American-style comic book companies.
So... What would be a good "science-fantasy" source for something not-quite-human having pyrokinetic superpowers?? Hmm??

Well, Fire is considered an element in the magical sense, so it could simply be an elemental affinity. Depending on your world building, magical/conceptual elements could be derived from what people think of as a 'thing'.
For my own, elemental powers are easy to develop when lots of people have done it before (classical elements), but hard when the elemental (sub)type is not a common power set or thought of as a subtype, such as lava or mud.
