Short hair and Chanel suits

So much long hair, cut off just like that! It was their choice, their male colleague said dubiously, when asked what he thought.

They'd seen him gasp and look disappointed. Men were that way. Had he ever tried long hair? Did he know the effort it took to maintain? Weren't they the same colleagues he chatted with, regardless of hair length? They didn't need his permission!

He couldn't grow his hair out, he said, too feminine. Though he was overdue making an appointment with his hairstylist. They dared him to put it off. They would not think less of him. And he did, as they tried new short hairstyles, even shorter than their first.

Until one day he had enough of taking care of it. Their hair was back to shoulder length. He asked if he should. They told him he did not need their permission. It was his body.
