Harmon took the 1912 Olympics by the neck and choked it to the point of victorious asphyxiation.
His unusual style consternated track and field purists, throwing the shot put like a baseball instead of the standard method. It had its drawbacks as he is the only shot put athlete in history to give up 3 home runs and a base on balls at a track meet.
He was known for the quote, "Who ate my hasselback potatoes? I WAS SAVING THEM!!! THOSE WERE MY HASSELBACK POTATOES!!".
