OMG, what a ***nightmare***! I have bad experiences with both of those water gadgets, but not *that* bad, yet I can imagine! Give my thanks to the hero who save you! And what were the pool supervisors doing, sleeping? Now I know why the color is red - danger. I could have read the text on the creation, lol...

**1992: A dangerous afternoon. Part 1.** It all started so promisingly. A new water park had opened in the neighboring town that was supposed to outshine all other water parks in the area: It had five gigantic water slides, more pools, more space, exciting lighting installations and a breathtaking interior design. Finni had seen the advertising brochures and was thrilled. He told his best friend Sammy about it and quickly the plan was made to go there together. The two friends also asked their classmates Steve and Danny if they wanted to join. Of course they wanted to be there.

Finni was already very excited on the bus ride: it was the first time in his life that he had planned and carried out something like this independently and without his parents. He reflected briefly on this. He had actually always been very independent. He could keep himself occupied on his own, did schoolwork without help, and had few restrictions from his parents. 

**Part 2.** For example, he was allowed to stay out later than the other children. He also had no guidelines as to how far he could go from home. Accordingly, he always found it a bit strange that his friend Chris was only allowed to go to the end of the street. Often Chris and Finni would have liked to play in the adjacent forest, but when Finni raved about the forest, Chris would say with sad eyes, “I'm not allowed to go there.” In earlier years, it was therefore rare for Finni to do something outside the street without his parents.

But now it was different. His school friends lived further away from school than Finni did. So the city gave them free tickets that allowed them to use all regional public transportation. Danny, Steve and Sammy were therefore used to doing things with their tickets outside of the trip to school. Unfortunately, Finni was not entitled to such a ticket because of the proximity of his home to school and had to pay for every trip. 

**Part 3.** That was probably why he hadn't yet taken such day trips. But now the time had come and he was happy to have become a bit more independent. It felt cool and exciting.

When they arrived at the water park, their eyes sparkled: the building was even more impressive than in the brochure pictures. The large glass roof let sunbeams fall on the sparkling water, and the colored lighting created an almost magical ambience. The smell of chlorine, French fries, and sunscreen was in the air. Finni and his friends entered the main hall with their eyes wide open. As soon as they had changed, they plunged into the first pool.

At first, it was all just great fun. They jumped, dived, splashed around, threw a ball to each other and laughed a lot. It was loud and lively – a constant babble of voices punctuated by splashing. Finni felt carefree. He loved days like this with friends, when nothing had to be planned, when fun and ease came naturally.
