Flux Schnell
Mom equated play with learning, so Bob and I had plenty of toys. Most were simple, and many were homemade or improvised, so no one minded our re-engineering them. Marco's closet, on the other hand, was an Aladdin's cave of treasures I'd never seen before. Not even in Mrs Greenwood's toy shop.
We made words or did sums while throwing beach balls inscribed with Koki pen letters and numbers. He asked silly questions and got funny answers from his Magic 8-Ball.
We made-believe pirate eyepatches, cardboard swords and elastic-band pistols from tomato crate planks. He had a genuine cowboy hat, a fake tipi, and a really noisy cap gun.
