D. Maria Padilha das Almas (brazilian entity)

Maria Padilha das Almas, aka lady of dawn, queen of the crossroads, lady of magic. Belonging to the larger group called Pombo Gira or Pomba Gira, she's an entity from brazilian-african religions Umbanda and Candomblé. According to belief, their favorite offerings are champagne, wine, cachaça (brazilian typical alcoholic drink), mirrors, jewelry and lipsticks. Laroyê is the greeting intended for Pomba Gira, which in Portuguese means "Hail!". Her favorite colors are black and red. According to some, the Pomba Giras are the spirits of women who lived unsubmissive lives, "outside the norms". When they die, according to Umbanda, these women transform into spiritual entities that return to evolve by helping others.
