That photo is amazing.  I'd never seen or heard of cats using the nests as crows' nests (ship lookout basket high on the mast), but it really shouldn't be a surprise.  My guess is that they won't stay there long during the day, as it's likely to be very hot.

I was hoping to find a couple for you on a long and hot Google Streetview road-trip from Kimberley to Upington.  I've come up empty-handed so far, which is surprising.  There used to be a telephone line running along that road with almost every pole supporting a nest.   The line itself was replaced by microwave links decades ago, and the poles themselves have disappeared since I was last on that road a few years ago.  A medium-voltage electricity line is visible in places, but this will be kept free of nests to prevent short-circuits and fires.

The birds in the image are more orange than they are in real life.
