As dinner time rolled around, Fairbairn and Bjornson began their own game of cribbage. Then after Fairbairn got the idea of switching partners and so Fairbairn played with Sister Helena and Larkin played with Bjornson. When they were ready, they switched so that the Bjornson played Helena and Fairbairn played Larkin.
Helena seemed more at ease and had a good time. She even played one more game with Larkin. Helena returned to her quarters to pray Vespers. Afterwards she sat at her desk and watched one of her training videos from the SGC on her data pad. It was titled “CUTURAL PROTOCOLS”. She was surprised to see Cate MacGregor on the screen. Cate was in her Australian dress Blues standing in front of a white board in the briefing room at Stargate Command.

“When approaching a new culture, remember what's polite at home might be an insult abroad,” said Cate. Hands, eyes, tone—these matter more than words sometimes. Watch.” The screen switched to Cate on Dakara meeting with a delegation of Free Jaffa. Cate demonstrated an open palm gesture, a respectful bow the head done with Teal’c who played the leader of the Free Jaffa who returned the gesture. Then she the same gesture done too casually, annotated with a flashing red “X”.
Helena mirrored the respectful version lowering your head with care. “Like a prayer,” she murmured.
From the shadows near the door, Larkin observed silently arms folded. “Looks natural,” he offered.
Helena glanced back startled, “You move like a ghost.”
Larkin gave a small shrug. “Better me than someone with a staff weapon.”
