That's a rather dark story. Personally, while my sympathies would be with the fox mother and her kits, it doesn't feel right that the young eaglets would die. Butter for the disloyal eagle herself to pay the price.

I started a challenge  on the Fables and when researching it , i hadn't realised  how many there were and how many of them were so dark , 

Like the original Grimm's fairy tales. They were like dark morality tales with unpleasant endings!

The Eagle and the Fox is a fable by Aesop about a friendship between an eagle and a fox who decide to live near each other. The eagle builds her nest high in a tall tree, while the fox settles in the underbrush below. One day, when the fox is away, the eagle seizes and takes one of the fox's cubs to feed her own young. The fox, unable to retaliate directly, seeks revenge by setting fire to the eagle's nest using a burning branch taken from a sacrificial altar. The fire destroys the eaglets, and the fox devours them in front of the eagle. The story highlights themes of betrayal, justice, and retribution. It teaches the moral that betrayal leads to consequences and that wrongdoings will be avenged
