Have you ever messed with Coherent? At times I think it'd really suit your style. Though it's hard to tame and costs too many creds. One day I'll make more myself with it.

Never used it, but I'm going to try it now

I'd recommend using it more for landscapes and abstact ish stuff it tends to suck at traditional portraits, people etc (unless shadowy silhouettes) etc. MortenLoth has made a ton of Coherent creations that blow my mind, I could be wrong but he might have done more than any other person on this site. It has this weird look that's like a mash up of photography, CGI and collage. Fascinating when done right!
