This is absolutely stunning, my friend. Congratulations ๐๐
Beautifully done DME and thank-you for the tribute ๐ This looks so authentic and matches the exquisite colours of the reality (I say without going back to compare to stock photos). The pin cushion too has been done well.
Thank you very much! This is brilliant. Colloquially, the bird is called the oranjeborssuikerbekkie. Oranje/bors = orange breasted, and suiker/bekkie = sugar beak. See how easy Afrikaans is to learn? The flower is the Outeniqua pincushion. Most place names ending in -qua mean "the place of the ... people". The people in this case were an indigenous Khoi or San tribe that lived in the southern cape south of the cape-fold mountains. The Outeniqua area is part of the "garden route" tourist area. It's boring for visitors expecting to see lions around ever corner, but there certainly were large and very famous elephant herds (now apparently reduced to a single cow), plenty of leopard, and magnificent Knysna loeries / turacos and stunning indigenous forests.
