Shinnok is the Elder God of Death and he was defeated by Raiden and banished to the Netherrealm by the other Elder Gods for trying to conquer Earthrealm. He was freed by Quan Chi a millenia later, but Shinnok was defeated by Johnny Cage and trapped inside his own amulet by Raiden. Quan Chi freed Shinnok from his amulet two decades later, but Shinnok was defeated by Johnny's daughter Cassie Cage and tortured by Raiden. Shinnok's mother Kronika would later attempt to get revenge for what happened to her son.
