Both remained motionless in awe of this wonderful moment. Home. Such a wonderful notion, she mused. She had not thought of home in years. Or was it decades? Centuries even?
She was not even sure what home meant to her after all her lifetimes. She vaguely remembered Einarr and the village, her manor, Sam Swift, Trap Street. The little bubble at the end of the universe. They had been lost to time aeons ago. When you were immortal, every place or being you would some day call home had to crumble to dust eventually. Dust that would one day rise in a cloud when future adventurers would be moving stones to enter your library.
Ashildr could never go home. But she would move heaven, earth and the galaxies beyond to make sure Anubis would not have to endure the same fate. She would help him get home.
