Tomioka Tessai

Tomioka Tessai [1837 - 1924] Japanese painter and calligrapher who was the last major artist in the Bunjinga tradition of literati painting. He was known for his eclectic style that combined elements of Chinese, Japanese, and Western art. He painted landscapes, flowers, birds, and historical scenes with a distinctive brushwork and color palette.
