and this was before pranks were even a thing. The poor butcher, Mr. Offal, had been hobbling around on an ill-fitting broomstick handle since the local urchins stole his leg whilst he was having his weekly bathe in a big old tin bath, in front of his roaring coal fire in the living room. He'll be so pleased to get his "proper leg" back. Even though it's wooden, he's been using it for over 25 years. It was made by an old woodsman who lived deep in the local forest, in a log cabin he'd built himself. The woodsman was also known as a healer and when creating his wooden legs (also hands and arms) he'd impregnate the wood with a magical 'healing liniment' which would continually numb any pain and stop any swelling, infection or damage. It's as if the wooden leg and the real limb became as one. And it was!
A charming image of a young chimney sweep in Victorian England, proudly standing amidst his sooty domain, showcasing his warm and engaging smile as he pauses after a job well done.
