Of all the terrible, ridiculous, inconvenient things in the world, perhaps the very worst is the human brain. It does not forget things. If it did, we wouldn’t have nearly so much trouble. Instead, it packs them away, hiding them in closets and behind dressers and under beds, so that their owners cannot find them until it is too late, at which point they spring out from inside the closets and behind the dressers and under the beds, occasionally shouting “BOO!” as if we don’t already get it.
