Clara was in a phonebooth, sheltering herself against he rain. She gripped the receiver, her knuckles white against the frame blue paint. The dial tone shrieked in her ear, a maddening counterpoint to the weather outside.

She'd followed the instructions and arrived at this deserted dock just before dawn. Now, with the sun sinking below the horizon, casting long, skeletal shadows, a sickening dread filled her. No bus, no taxi, not a single soul – just the endless expanse of churning water and the mocking wail of the wind.

Clutching the phone tighter, Clara slammed her fist against the receiver. "Hello? Anyone? I'm trapped here!" Her voice echoed hollowly within the booth. She'd been lured here, not to safety, but to something far more sinister.
