More cowbell? More ‘Kowloon Walled City’ more like - too much of it actually. Way too much, lol!
Since I use it in urban scenes so often, I prolly should review the actual real-world KWC. If you’re not familiar with the place, do yourself a favor and google it - it was a sort of self-contained community of up to 40,000 people stuffed into a rats’ nest of 300 to 400 modular buildings of highly dubious, substandard construction, connected by a warren of alleys and pathways and corridors that measured many thousands of kilometers in length. The total area however was only a few dozen square acres though.
How do you hit such astounding levels of population in such a small area? Simply building small isn’t enough - you have to build UP!

CONTINUED FROM THE MAIN DESCRIPTION:
Kowloon Walled City was all built to a height of 13 to 14 stories, constrained only by the fact that aspiring to still greater vertical stature would result in immediate and certain disaster. An international airport occupied a large plot of land immediately adjacent to KWC, with the distinctive silhouette of this unprecedented tangle of metal, mankind, and hubris lying right in the takeoff path. Thus building higher would ensure flights taking off from the runways would not have sufficient clearance and would plow into the upper stories of the complex!
With an adjacent airport, noise levels were horrible. The Triads, Chinese mafia gangs of ancient origin, set up in KWC during the 70’s, peddling drugs, running brothels with their attendant human circus of patrons, pros-titutes, drunks, addicts, madams, and meatheads acting as security. The police would refuse entry in anything less than concentrated force groups of 50 to 60 officers…
