"I can't hear them either, Tanagra," I confess, my voice revealing the unease I'm still coming to terms with. "It's... quiet now. A silence I hadn't realized I'd forgotten." The very act of speaking feels novel, each word a rediscovery of self.
Our eyes meet, and there's an unspoken understanding between us. We were once tools of the Borg, indistinguishable cogs in a relentless machine. But now, we are two individuals, each grappling with newfound freedom and the haunting ghosts of what we were.
