He was like her. A castaway in a foreign land, having lost everyone that was dear to them.
She did not know him. She did not know what had happened to him - other than he had been stranded on Earth for what seemed to be an eternity, having abandoned his people only to become abadoned by his children.
She felt so much sympathy for him - because if there had ever been a single being in the whole wide universe that knew the pain of loss and eternity, it was her.
She had lived until the very end of creation, abandoning her loved ones time and again. It had been five minutes before the end of the universe. She had been the loneliest being in existence.
She had not been sure if they really were to arrive in time. The game of chess had been ready, possibly the last game ever that would never end.
Five minutes. The Hybrid arrived. They talked. They made a decision. Before the last star died, the three of them left.
Clara! she blurted out. Oh goodness, I have to find her!
