Renegade elfborn wizard

His father had been seduced while walking in the fields, lured by an elven princess. She bewitched the poor man, and conveyed him through the mystical portal that divided the world of the fey from that of man. And she became with child, and the man lived there for one hundred years, which seemed to him to be a lazy summer's afternoon.

And the child, the elfborn, was half man and half elf. He felt not at home in the fey world, craving as he did material solidity. But he belonged not in our world either, made as he was of light and air and magic. Like many elfborn, he wandered forlornly, never belonging anywhere. But unusually for his kind, he sought not solace in woodlands and waterfalls, but revelled in his alienation, embracing that which he could not overcome.

He went into the mountains, and studied the dark arts, and became wicked and spiteful. He combined his mother's inscrutably cruel mischief with his father's selfishness.

If he must suffer, he wanted others to suffer more.
