For @DeathMelonEater
Tswaiing (place of salt in the Setswana language) is a well-preserved meteorite impact crater in an area called Soutpan (salt pan) in Tshwane (Pretoria), South Africa. Archeological evidence exists that it has been used as a source of salt for around 100,000 years. More recently, brine from the crater was used as a commercial source of salt and sodium carbonate (soda ash) until 1956.
This image shows an aerial view of the Tswaing meteorite crater near Pretoria, South Africa, depicted in a wet-brush watercolor style. Lush vegetation surrounds the tranquil blue water within the crater.
