Every animal's eyes are unique but I wanted to dig deeper in order to find why they looked like jewels ...and I discovered why!

# ...showing the crystal clear dome of the cornea and anterior chamber in front of the iris. In cats, the iris is slightly flatter and closer to the retina than humans. The cornea is also larger and projects further. These are adaptations to help with nocturnal viewing but it gives a cat a jewel-like appearance to their eyes when viewed from the side!
