Susan Seddon Boulet (1941 โ 1997) was an artist born in Brazil to English parents, who later in life moved to the USA. She is considered one of the founders of the Visionary Art movement in the USA, which seeks to convey spiritual insights and inner visions through artistic expression. Her art style evolved from portrayals of medieval figures and fantasy characters in her early work to more complex layering of anthropomorphic images of animals, Shamans, and Goddesses. Bouletโs distinctive personal style was characterised by the use of colour applied in layers from which dream-like forms emerged. She worked primarily in French oil pastels, inks, and occasionally pencil. Her art drew inspiration from a wide variety of sources including mythology, poetry, Jungian psychology, worldwide spiritual traditions, and a deep love of animals and the natural world.
