He was a casual member of the assassin's guild, hardly called upon as a married father of two. Though his children were grown, and his wife a successful business owner of general goods, he occasionally took up side jobs for the extra gold.

Upon meeting Aquiel only a few weeks after he started his work in the guild, he allowed her to assist him in his first assignment, tutoring her in the best ways to take someone out. When it was Aquiel's turn to take on a job, he begrudgingly joined her if only to ensure she succeeded and given a fair share of the earnings.

Eventually, Jeferen had to immediately cease accompanying her on missions, and forbade her to join on his. Not that she was a distraction, but that he genuinely couldn't afford to have friends in their line of work. He reluctantly distanced himself from her after a few months to spare each other any hard feelings.
