Part 22.1:

Scarlette made the tough decision to leave. She looked to Rose, who was sound asleep in bed, and knew she'd want to stay. Scarlette snuck out of their room, and proceeded to creep through the castle, found the main entrance, which had been recently unblocked, and ran outside into the storm.

Scarlette didn't get too far before she ran into the demon, who looked down at her disappointedly. She looked back up at the towering demon with fear. The storm raged on, drowning out the uncomfortable silence between the two figures.

"Scarlette, my dear, you shouldn't be out here in this weather. I understand you're eager to leave, but out here isn't safe," the demon began. He offered her a hand before continuing. "Come on, let's get back inside. If, once the storm has passed, you still wish to leave, then I will not stop you. But until then, you are safest with us."
