Punished for leading a rebellion against the "gods" using her people as playthings on a Dyson ring around a distant star, Zyphara was transformed into a gorgon-like creature and banished into the bowels of the ringworld deep under the inner surface. That wasn't enough for the highly-advanced aliens posing as gods, so they commanded the townspeople to periodically send hunting parties into the catacombs to bring back her head.

Zyphara has always been a capable fighter, however, and with her mutation she gained a neuro-paralysis ability that she uses to stun the hunters long enough to steal their supplies and gear and leave them with enough bruises and broken bones to discourage them from returning. She has survived this way for years but has no hope of escape ... until a stranger appears out of nowhere and unwittingly gets between her and the latest hunting party ...
