“Jin Pembroke. My research focuses on the non-invasive interface between biological and technological systems, from a Heideggerian perspective. As Heidegger wrote in 'The Question of Technique' (1954), our relationship to technology should not be one of 'arraisonnement' that reduces everything to an exploitable resource. My position may seem conservative in our current context, but as Jonas demonstrated in 'The Responsibility Principle' (1979), the 'heuristic of fear' invites us to consider risks before benefits. My Nest-Net systems aim to translate the language of nature rather than transform it, thus preserving what I call, following Levinas ('Totality and Infinity', 1961), the fundamental otherness of the living.
Unlike my augmented colleagues, I maintain that true technological symbiosis does not require incorporation, but respectful dialogue. That's why my molecular gardens serve as mediators rather than tools of control.”
