Sarsen stones are scattered all over the area of Avebury henge, in Wiltshire, UK, and have been used to create a multitude of stone circles, such as Stonehenge, Avebury, the Merry Maidens, etc. The stones, left behind after the glaciers retreated, are the remains of a Cenozoic cap (our current era for the last 66 million years) made of silicified sandstone. The millions of tiny quartz crystals held in sand, itself created from even older rocks, millions of years previously, sparkle in the sun. They hold the solar energy needed to charge the circle, and the energy of the water beneath them, that fed the land and the people. They can be found all over southern England.
A striking picture of a megalithic Avebury stone circle reflecting a watery sun. This abstract digital art features orange, red, blue and purple watercolor effects, rendered with crisp clarity.
