Forcing Tarthukhan into the mountains, though, gave them a more defensible position, which Bultvin made every effort to deny them. Her troops, from the ranges of Belka, were seasoned mountain fighters who opened up avenues of approach throughout the mountains for Coalition forces, managing to push Tarthukhan's armies past them and into the open plains behind. Bultvin's tactics possibly shaved years off the war, as Tarthukhan had no fighting doctrine beyond them.
