Miraculous Constellations, a poem

A tree unfurls slow leaf from foetal pearl, wings now raised across a gentle spine to catch the sun,

And in the wonders you beheld in all I've taken for granted, I am reminded of this cathedral of blue wrapped all around, of the blessing of your joy at sweetness first taste on your tongue, of your fingers clumsy strength, seeking purchase about my colossal hand,

A leaf detaches from its petiole upon the wild breaths to turn a soft descant of pirouettes, spiralling in descent,

At an hour perhaps predetermined to usher forth from such tender chambers as those she's held for long months against the seasons, what miraculous constellations have aligned, in squalls of blood and wailing, to become the best distillation of our life together,

A ladybug unfurls its wings in a premonitory flutter, we count the spots upon it's back, my held breath waits upon your deliberations
