I do. And if I don't, they don't get picked. I have to be 100% sure. Do you grow day lilies, NOT Asian or Oriental lilies? Day lilies have long strap-like leaves. Think thick wide grass leaves.

Day lilies because each flower only last one day before fading but there's new buds on the same stalk that flowers. Google them if you're not positive. Anyway, day lily flower petals are edible. They taste a little like butter lettuce but with a *very* faint onion/garlic after taste. The stamen, anthers inner part isn't used as it has a bit of a bitter taste but definitely not poisonous.  Common day lilies are usually orange or deep yellow but there's lots of different cultivars available in pretty colours and some frilled too. The petals look pretty tossed in a salad of mixed greens.

Asian, Oriental and Easter lilies are poisonous to everyone but especially cats. Even cats licking the pollen off their fur can be poisoned. Shuts down their ideas.
