Chapter 2: A Rope Between Life and Death (Part 8)

Kai sighed, though he couldn’t hide the grin. “Sam, you’ve said that about every island so far.” The thrill of adventure never really left him, neither did his child-like behavior. No matter how many islands they got to explore. Each new place brought the same rush of adrenaline.

At the helm, Juno kept her eyes locked on the shifting waves ahead. The glint in her eyes already calculating the storm rolling in. “Buckle up, ladies, storm’s ‘bout to roll in.”

Kai shot a glance at the night sky. Thick dark clouds were covering the once bright sun, promising rain and lightning. “Storms, mysterious islands, and a treasure hunt. What could possibly go wrong?”

“Everything,” Sam murmured. “But that’s the fun part, right?”

Finn, the youngest on board, bounded across the deck, his pack slung carelessly over one shoulder. “Yeah, Kai! Lighten up! It’s just another deserted island with some cool booby traps!”

Kai raised an eyebrow, “You’re really not helping, Finn.”
