Red Moon

The giant glowing sign

As the pale white drips with red

Painting the image

From what the old tales said.

I heard them every year

Tales of sun and rain

Of feasts and battles

And joys mixed with pain.

Now standing by the sea of tears

I cloaked with shame

The moon soaked with pride

And the sand bears my name.

I did not listen

Like all who came before

Now I join like the others

And watch upon the shore
