The night was still, but the woods were not.
From deep within the heart of the forest, beneath the towering black oaks, something moved in the shadows. The pale light of the full moon filtered down through the branches, illuminating patches of frost-covered earth and withered leaves. An unnatural silence fell over the trees, as if the forest itself held its breath in anticipation.
Then, from within the darkness, came the sound—a crack of bone, followed by a low, guttural growl. A shape slunk forward, moving with a strange, unnatural grace, each step a disturbing harmony of man and beast. The figure’s limbs trembled violently, as though battling an invisible force. Veins pulsed beneath the skin, stretching thin over contorting muscles. Fingers—still too human to be claws—twitched, curling and uncurling in agonized jerks.
The transformation had begun.

It started with the bones, always the bones. They shifted and twisted, snapping in quick succession, reshaping themselves in grotesque angles. The sound was sickening, a wet crackling, like green wood splintering. The figure stumbled forward, falling to its knees, as the once-familiar skeleton broke apart and reformed into something monstrous. Teeth elongated into jagged points, the jaw widening unnaturally as a snout began to emerge. Ragged breath tore through the night air, as the beast’s body fought against itself, torn between its human form and the curse it could not escape.
Flesh tore. Muscle stretched. Hair sprouted in thick, black patches along twisted limbs. The pain was unbearable, but no screams escaped the beast’s lips. Instead, its growl deepened into something feral, something hungry.
