37/ Can't keep up

She suddenly realised she was running out of breath and while she definitely was covering some distance she really was getting nowhere. The drones were on her tail and she felt her legs getting tired, her heart beating so fast it felt like it was choking her slowly.

A stray shot hit an advertisement screen some paces away and the explosion and shattering of glass hit her ears like the beating of an infernal drum made of sharp splinters, so loud she lost her balance and staggered behind a corner. For a second, Ashildr smelled the remains of a big fire, a fireball hitting and evaporating glass, wood, hair and flesh into thin air. A collective scream suddenly drowned by the roaring thunder of hell itself.

Hair and flesh? she wondered in a hidden corner in her mind, but after a second, the sensation was gone.

Performazzzzt, longzzzz The screen sizzled one last time before it went dark. Her vision blurred.
