Plague and famine strike the masses dead โ In him no shred of pity lies: Within his castle's bastion lines He'll outride Death's hooved tread.
The raucous masquerade is underway, Guests dance as wine flows freely down, The hearth glows hot in crimson gown While carriages line up in proud array!
Bengal lights crackle through the night, The crowds cry out in glee... Let endless be this revelry โ Let it be just like they delight!

The raucous masquerade has ceased, The wines all spilled upon the floor, Decay and cobwebs reign forevermore, The revelers now numbered with the deceased!
The candles snuffed, the fires dead, None drink or make their revels bright, Only Red Death's imperial ghostly light Waltzes on shadowed night's soft tread...
