Where on the planet are you? I returned to the United States during the pandemic for nearly three years. The pervading notions of race and racism over there really messed with my head. Before going to the United States in 2020, I was perfectly comfortable (ad flattered) having Cambodian people tell me that I am just as Asian as they are, without any regard for my skin color or the often times violent importance placed upon skin color in the culture in which I was raised. I’m back home in Cambodia, where no one gives me a second glance, but I have this idea stuck in my head now. Who am I? What Am I? does that even matter?
