What made Nostradamus famous was the fulfillment in 1559 of one of his supposed predictions: the death of King Henry II during a tournament.
Michel de Nôtre-Dame, later known as Nostradamus, was a French apothecary and supposed fortune-teller known for his books of prophecies.
In 1550, he wrote his first book of predictions. As a result, he began to work as an astrologer for many nobles of the time, including Catherine de' Medici, who was one of his most important clients.
In 1555, he published his most famous work, Les Prophétie. They were based on historical and literary precedents. Initially, they received a mixed reception, especially due to the ambiguity with which they are written.
Some examples of supposed events that he prophesied are the assassination of Henry IV of France and the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte, among others. As a result, every year, astrologers and tarotists worldwide try to guess which prophecy will come true that year.
