There was a large river where I grew up, and a large bridge over it that served as a main throughfare for the city.  It frequently was backed up.  Sometimes you were stuck on the bridge for up to 20 minutes.  The water that flowed under the bridge (this was before the *Clean Water Act*) had raw sewage and Monsanto chemicals in it.  Windows rolled up, breathing through your sleeve, nothing helped.  It was the most God-Awful reek I've ever experienced.  Merry Christmas!

I walked about a mile home from school every day. One route went through a light industrial area that featured a curious runoff stream (more like a ditch) that emitted the kind of stink you describe here. One day a younger boy had squatted down beside it and was poking around with a stick. The friend I was walking with said she would give me a quarter if I pushed him in. So of course I did. As we were laughing he scooped up a handful of the vilest mud you can imagine and threw it at me, which hit the back of my head as I turned away. I had to run the rest of the way home with that sickening stench attached to me. Merry Christmas to you!

Shout out to Alice Deeper Music Project @PupX for creating another fabulous LoRA! I imagine these ladies used to dance burlesque in their younger days, in a small venue a few blocks from Broadway. They had dreams of performing in a musical in one of the glamorous theaters on Broadway, but that dream faded away. This is a dream sequence, and the ladies finally get their chance to sing for a larger crowd outside the theater district.
