“I forgot how much I enjoyed doing this, Helena murmured.

“Cleaning?” Asked Bjornson.

“Yes,” Sister Helena replied. There was something meditative about doing it.”

“Probably the cleaning solution had something to deal with it. Kind of like incense.”

“You could say that, Sergeant,” Sister Helena said.

Bjornson paused and nodded. “You sound like you're doing better, Sister.”

“I am,” Helena replied. “I'm glad I have this team as a family of sorts. Though Colonel Larkin has been an enigma to me.”

“Totally understandable,” said Bjornson. They continued to clean their weapons and visited. Once their weapons were clean, they reassembled them. Helena needed a little assistance and Bjornson gently guided the Carmelite with her task. Once all was complete, Helena holstered her sidearm.

Thank you, Bjornson,” said Helena.


“You're very welcome, said Bjornson. Helena got up and went for the door. “By the way, Sister, did you discharge your Zat when you were on the Goa’uld weapons platform?” Bjornson asked.

“I did, Helena replied. “I had to shoot two recon drones to disable their shields. And I discharged my Zat several times during the battle on Zulu Station.”

“Can you bring it to me? I want to calibrate it.”

“I can," Sister Helen said. She went to her quarters and grabbed her Zat and brought it to Bjornson.

“I'll work on this now and have it for you tonight before you go to bed,” the Norwegian said.

“Thank you, Sergeant,” said Helena.

“My pleasure, Sister,” Bjornson replied. Helena left the Armory and after dropping her gear back at her quarters and a quick stroll around the cloisters, she returned to the refectory where Colonel Larkin was sitting at the table, doing paperwork.


“You're right your M9 does need cleaning,” Bjornson said as he made some space on the table and set up a mat and cleaning supplies. Helena removed her tactical vest and field jacket and sat down. “We'll start by disassembling your weapon. Do you remember how to? Bjornson asked.

Helena furred her brow. She flipped a few latches and detached the receiver from the slide and barrel assembly. She showed it to Bjornson.

“Good job, Sister. Now, from the slide and barrel assembly, disassemble the recoil spring and guide.” She did so and got flustered pulling the barrel from the slider. Bjornson helped her separate the barrel. He gave her the proper cleaning tools and he opened a bottle of cleaning solution, its aroma filling the room, Helena back to her Air Force days. Together they cleaned their weapons.
