Yokosuka Naval Base stretched out before them, with the steady hum of jets preparing for takeoff, the clang of maintenance crews working on the planes, and the faint smell of jet fuel hanging in the crisp morning air. The sky was a brilliant blue, and the F-14 Tomcats lined up on the tarmac looked like sleek, powerful beasts ready to roar into the sky.

Will’s heart pounded with excitement and nerves as they walked toward their assigned Tomcat. He’d been around planes his entire life, thanks to his father’s Navy career, but he’d never experienced one like this—up close, inside the cockpit, feeling the raw power of one of the fastest jets in the world.
