DND Series: Knell Beetle (Monster)

Knell beetles are large vermin warped by transmutation magic and sonic energy. These ten-legged beetle-like creatures measure about 9 feet in length and weigh around 1,500 pounds. They have a hard, shiny black and red carapace that looks like it might conceal wings, but it acts only as durable armor. Above their head is a hornlike growth shaped like the bell of a massive trumpet, which they use to communicate and attack. Their four black insectoid eyes sit in a chitinous brow ridge, and their two wicked claws are jointed, agile, and equipped with sharp hooks. Knell beetles can emit powerful sonic chimes and create earth-shaking stomps to disorient and damage their foes. Despite being mindless vermin, they exhibit a certain savage cunning in combat, often using their abilities in groups for increased effectiveness.
