Lana Beniko was a Sith Lord in during the time of war between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic approximately 3600 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire.  When we first meet her, she has the burning yellow eyes typical of those who use the Dark Side of the Force.  Here, she is imagined as the woman she might have been had she not immersed herself as thoroughly in the Dark Side as she did.

Here, in her final moments, she realizes that to save her wife, she must let go of their mutual attachment and do what she can to save her beloved.  This act of selfless love allows her wife to truly see Lana for the first time.

The Sith don't follow the Jedi Code.  They don't believe that "There is no death, there is only the Force."
