A twisted path walked

As the Saterians, Ascended, and Aurevalis struggled to piece together the gravity of the Harbinger’s arrival, elsewhere, darkness stirred. The Void forces regrouped in silence, shadow coiling like smoke. Its champion, Virexxa the Shardmaw, had returned—scarred, armor fractured, her blade dulled by unknown resistance. She knelt before the Source, the void-born heart of all consuming will. But instead of rage, she met something more unsettling—concern laced with unraveling frustration.

The Source’s voice lashed the chamber, each syllable warping space: “Why have you returned...? Have you not the strength to conquer such feeble beings...? Or have I made a grave mistake in my estimation of this new universe...?”

Virexxa dared not answer. For the first time, the Source questioned itself.
