"Becoming me never became me. Growing up was like growing into poorly fabricated patchwork jeans, already old and frayed, and me, afraid to grow any more as I bust their seams with unseemly growth, outbursts of rage ripping fabric with chaotic imprecision while peers looked on and laughed, stitched in ridicule. Some inner insistence and refusals to be hemmed in screamed I looked better this way, sheer denial worn on a threadbare posterior which always gained too much weight, my ungainly gait unable to handle a scale that, despite everything, always found me wanting." -text by Natural Disaster
