They'd only met that night, a chance encounter involving an alley and a sky lantern, yet their warmth had enveloped her like sunshine.

A sigh escaped her lips as she placed a final daisy beside the cardinal. Back then, the future had stretched before them, a canvas waiting to be painted. Now, the collage felt like a bittersweet memento – a single, fleeting moment frozen in time
